Easter means something different to many people. For me, it meant a new Easter dress and a ribboned bonnet each year, Sunday Easter Services, and wonder. My brothers and sisters, and I awoke to a wonderful Easter Basket at the foot of our beds, a memory etched in my brain, one of wonder and excitement for the day. We emptied our Easter goodies onto our beds, and the preparation for our day began. I always wonder, how my mother did it, and made the day so joyful, with all those kids, at the time, we were a family of eight.
Donning our Easter attire, we headed out with our Easter Baskets to the glorious Easter Egg Hunt on the green lawn at the church. Joyful sounds of children running and hunting for eggs filled the air, competing to see who could find the most eggs, or the special ones filled with candy.
My children, now with their own children, have created their own Easter traditions. The Easter Basket, and egg hunt having been passed down through the generations, and now, seen through the eyes of each of their children, that same look of wonder that I had.
